1600 FSB with a DELL MOBO?

Thread Starter
I am looking to overclock an E8500 with a BSEL mod. Does anyone know what will happen if I go from 1333 to 1600 FSB with a Mobo that only supports 1333?

if the motherboard only supports 1333, then putting a 1600 processor in it would probably just downclock it to 1333.
what chipset does the motherboard have? if it has a g41/43/45 or p45 that can do 1600, it might accept the higher fsb.

If you wanted to try it, you might be able to take a lead pencil and write over the pads to make connection. According to this website, it would be easy to do when going from 333 to 400 (1333-1600):

You could also try using a little piece of wire/metal taped onto the pads and try it out.

In the end if it doesn't work, you can always erase the pencil mark or remove the wire. I am not a processor engineer, so I don't know if it will damage the chip, but I think it is worth a try.
Good luck
