I also think the multiplier is the better option. If you are concerned about not getting the 1866 on the ram you paid for, I think that 1600 with some aggressive timings would soften the blow.

up your cpu/nb voltage to 1.3v and ram to 1.7v and see if it will post with that ram you may need any were from 1.3-1.4 volts on your cpu/nb, but you realy need to lower your cpu vcore.

Put it this way-right now i,m running my system at a bit higher speeds-i upped my fsb a couple notches-but by doing so i upped my ram-nb all speeds-so i had to up my cpu/nb volts from 1.275 to 1.32. It could very well be your ram that is the prob at thoses speeds.

Try this-use all the settings i gave you befor-but raise your cpu/nb voltage to 1.35 and your cpu to 1.45 ram at 1.7-see if it works-if so-than work each one back down to were it will not any more.

ok so I started from scratch and work it all over again I started with fbs 200, 20x multiplier, ram at 1600 . Just to get a baseline of where everything works out. I started with my ram high right off the bat @ 1.710v just to eliminate that its the ram . my CPU @ 1.475 and cpu/nb/vid @ 1.325 it posted but crashed within a minute. I then upped the cpu/nb to 1.350 and continued to step up all the way to 1.40v still it would crash in prime 95 in about 4 minutes every setting. I finally upped my cpu to 1.50 and ran stable in prime 95 for 30 minutes. usually if its unstable it will crash within 15 minutes. So this is where im at right now. 4.0GHz 200 x 20 ram @ 1600 cpu- 1.50, cpu nb 1.375 ,ram 1.710. so far it seems stable im still running prime. but where do i go from here? Do i try to get this with the fbs raised to match my stock ram? or do i keep this and extremely underclock my ram? Everyone keeps telling me to leave the ram underclocked, But honestly it pisses me off! This equipment was designed to be compatible to run this ram yet i can't get it to work nore does the manufacturer have any suggestions! yes I called both Gigabyte and corsair and neither of them could give me a answer or even a baseline to start with. I was very upset when Gigabyte had no response to , "if you support 1866 ram why is there no setting for it?" There answer was, "sir, you must have a overclocked computer to run that ram".
oh one more thing. Should cpu core control be on or off?

your running 1866 ram with this cpu, How do have it set? wait you have the exact same setup as me! are you underclocking your ram too? what your voltages since u have the same MB as me

I am not near my gaming PC but I will list complete volts tomorrow. I do know off the top of my head that when I first got my 1090T, all I had to do was set the multiplier to 20, up the voltage to 1.475, and with everything else set to auto it was rock solid stable. I then moved to the ram, and I do remember I used 1.69V and left it @1600 w/6-8-6-22-1T-24. I needed to have the AirFlowPro fan in place sitting on the ram heat sinks but that was also rock solid with Memtest86+. I moved to OC the Mobo and that required some tweaking to get the NB to 3Ghz, the volts I can't remember but I will follow up tomorrow.

First things first, Thank you everyone for all your suggestions! Well it took all day but I think I got it! I did allot of reading on my laptop today while I was attempting to oc this beast! Just about every oc i seen with this MB the cpu voltage was between 1.50-1.55 So it eased my mind a little about my voltages being so high. well the very last thing I read up on was my ram. I found out everyone was OC it from 1866 to 2000 with ease and still running it at 1.5v so I lowered my ram voltage and Bam! System stable!! 2 hours on prime 95 and a video rendering test and no crashes so far. So "for now" here is my final settings.
4.012GHz Cpu 1.475v
FBS 236
NB 2832
HT Link 2124 <- wish it was a bit lower
Ram 1888 (9-10-9-27-2T) I want to change this still
Dram 1.50v
everything else I set manually but left at stock settings.
So I broke the 4.0 barrier that I wanted and still kept my ram at the 1866 I paid for I still would like to tighten up my latency timings a bit. And would eventually maybe see if I could hit 4.1 GHz but I'm happy with 4.0
