Thinking about buying this one:http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820227728 no reviews though, has anyone ever owned one of these? Also, Would these be built of better components that actually last than the vertex 2 and 3's?

The crucial C300 is 64gb and can be had for $115 on newegg right now.

I have read too many bad reviews for this about it being DOA/broken

The write speeds for this seems a bit low for me.

The Mushkin Enhanced Callisto DX2 80GB would be a good choice if you want faster seq. writes than a C300 can offer.

The vertex 3 is a fine drive; if it's DOA then RMA it. How often do you write gigantic files to your ssd? 4k and sequential read speeds are the name of the game here.

The Vertex 3 doesn't fit into his budget.

And the Vertex 2 has a bad rep. because OCZ switched from their 34nm manufacturing process to a new 25nm processing without informing the customers. It wouldn't have been a big deal, except OCZ pushed the technology out too fast and it proved to have a much shorter lifetime and much slower read/write speeds than the older technology. And then, to top it off, they raised the prices on the SSDs based off the old technology, and put the newer SSDs at the same price zone the older technology used to occupy.

Good point, its only 64GB... what are 4k and sequential read speeds anyways?

Sequential is for files that are right next to each other, and 4k is small files scattered all over the drive. 4k is where an SSD shines; it has almost no latency to worry about compared to a mechanical hard drive.

still slightly confused. when would each of these come in handy?
