If you're working to such a constraining budget

http://www.overclock.net/video/10262...970-230-a.html

If you're going to get a 560, you really need the 560ti. THe above card will be more than enough.

but if i get 2X Ti's that would be over $400... which i cant do.

my goal is to obtain the most powerful set of graphics cards for no more then 390$ USD,

it is down to either 2X 6870's (which can smack down a single GTX 580 or a pair of GTX 560's.. GTX 460's are not as fast as 6870s... so those i wont get.

what pair of cards for a total of $380-390 will give me the BEST performance at 1080P.. this is my goal..

Ok, but you're limiting yourself, For an extra $60 you'll get a lot more performance.

However, the above card that I linked you is better bang for buck than you'll get from newegg.

I'm saying you should go and get the SINGLE 6950.... The one I linked you is $220. Get a single card.
Yeah guys he's asking a simple question, I get this all the time when I ask my friends. They tell me to get more expensive stuff when I ask with a certain budget. I'd say get the AMDs since the 6000 AMD cards tend to scale even higher than Nvidias. I know mine are 6950s so they not the same, but as long as a game is coded well for multi GPU they usually scale 100% give or take. Like Bad Company 2 for example. I'd maybe say the TI versions, but compared to regular 560 I'd say go with the AMDs.

Yes a 6950 would be GREAT to get. Cause then you could get another later in time and they scale beastly. 1gb or 2gb would be up to you if you would decide to go single card. I think single would be your best bet since if you ever had to upgrade your system, you could just keep that one or add another one.

You won't regret it if you go 6950. TRUST ME I had one to start, then added another. I am only on one screen and to me it don't matter. I have the option to go eyefinity, but with one screen just means more FPS and that means it will take a while for a game to really deter the FPS to unplayable rates.

Or a 6970. Don't mean to get off topic of your original question, but I would never choose two 560s vs 6870 over a single 6950/70 or nvidia equivalent.

Either 6950/70 you will not find a game that you can not play at good FPS for a while.
