Will my Motherboard take this Voltage ?

Thread Starter
I want to overclock my Phenom to 3.0Ghz but I have to raise the Voltage to the CPU from 1.3 to 1.4.

The Question is will the Motherboard handle 1.4V or will the VRM's Catch fire ?

And I herd my Motherboard is a 3+1 Phase.

No, running a 125W processor on any 3+1 is unsafe. however, usually ASUS boards are protected from OCP which will throttle the processor down if the VRMs too hot. I have no doubt that you are going to see this happening and way too often, especially with the overclock, and especially with the complete lack of VRM cooling due to tower cooler. You should proceed with a different motherboard if possible.

ya you should be fine, if you are worried you could buy this http://www.frozencpu.com/products/71...-_10_Pack.html or you could blow a fan onto them

Kay guys, "fine" is quite probable due to ASUS boards usually featuring throttling OCP, however it should be considered that this throttling OCP is probably going to happen too often for the board to be even usable with any overvolt/OC due to the 3+1 phase on 125W processor w/overvolt & OC, with no cooling whatsoever. So the board will throttle down the CPU speed too often even if the CPU temperature is just fine, and the overclock will not work properly. I still recommend a different board for proper overclocked operation.

What about if I use some Mosfet heatsinks and a 95W CPU instead
probably a AMD Athlon II x4 640 3.0Ghz
