I see. Thanks for the info.

I'd like to join this nice 68XX OC club, I'll do the tests as soon as I have some spare time.

Cheers!

Say hello to your newest member!

Attachment 234677

Clock: 950
Memory: 1150
Core Voltage: 1274
Memory/Aux Voltage: default
Max Temperature: 85c

Some of considerations and questions:

* Any settings above that would lead to errors @ OCCT in less than 2 minutes. Pushing the memory and aux voltages didn't help. Maybe my motherboard + PSU combo is the culprit here...anyway, I'm very satisfied with the overall performance.

* My max temperature reached 85c, but on a heavy-duty real-world situation (gaming) it will never go above 67c. Since I'm lacking intakes fans (side/front) right now, I pushed the GPU fan to 100% after it reached 80c in order to get the best cooling possible. My exhaust fans (top/rear) were at minimum speeds (they're manually controlled). Motherboard and case temperatures are very good since my room is quite cool. FWIW, motherboard won't pass 35c.

Question: Do you guys think a nice sidefan would knock a few degrees on the GPU? I'm thinking about getting this one since it is easy to find around here and the price is great. Also, is a front in-take fan really worth it? Like I've said, my temperatures are fine and I'd rather have a silent pc instead of placing another fan to drop just a couple of celsius degrees....FWIW I'll not overclock anything else on my rig, at least not right now!

Best regards for everyone!

Maybe because it's a sapphire card My XFX 2GB 6870 doesn't have voltage control in MSI Afterburner, I'm going to try trixx in a minute here.

As long as you get a fan with high CFM, it should drop a couple degrees, 2-3 or maybe 4-5.

What's the maximum safe voltage value on my 6870 2GB? I'm gonna try and see if Trixx has voltage control for my card, but need to know what not to go over/get near.

EDIT:
Well, never mind then. No voltage control with Trixx either >_>

Thanks for the reply, I'm gonna install the sidefan next week.

As for Trixx.....it crashes my system after the first clock tweak. It really doesn't get along with my rig, so I'm sticking to Afterburner for the big OC and Catalyst for the light OC with no voltage tweaks.

BTW, Afterburner + BC2 = crash. Dunno why this is still happening...good thing is that I don't need the big OC for BC2, but sometimes I forgot to close before joining a match and bamn, crash. Hope BF3 doesn't have that problem.

Might be an unstable OC, if you see in the bottom right of you're screen that your drivers crashed and then recovered, its an unstable OC. You'll need more voltage to make it stable.
