About losing WUs, are you sure it wasn't instability with that OC? 6903/6904 stresses things more and really a few of those have to be done without issue to be called absolutely stable.
The rig has been rock stable and finishing up 6903/6904 for a month without any issues at all. I'm hoping to get a 6903/04 yesterday after this initial WU - that would be a true test if it's the OC. This is what it saved in the Fahlog

I saw a lot of error messages after the marked-in-bold area, but it wasn't written in the log file. AFAIR, it's saying something like bad WU then whole bunch of messages.
That in bold is usually due to unstable OC mate. Bad WU may be a different thing.

Bad OC = chip degradation. It folded for a month without issues.

at 5.5GHz under high voltage, right?

See if you can send that one in RMA and get a new chip

LOL!!! I'm just gonna swap this with my wife's rig (also 2600K).

Yes, 5.5ghz @ 1.48v on H2O still degrades it.

I'm dying to get that BD chip!

I wonder if they are gonna release the 8170P, that would be awesome - 5ghz walk in the park.
Isn't that scheduled to be launch after the FX-8100 and FX8150? later in 2012? It is AMD's policy to release chips with higher factory default multis as new products

I meant it would be awesome if they launch it sooner. Obviously that's a marketing strategy or not. I hate to speculate but looking on their upcoming products, why not release the 8170P now then focus on the next best thing later?
Oh

i don't know...
i hope they adopt a whole new strategy with BD. Release a few good chips, not many, and take some time to finetune their new architecture before jumping on launching higher multis as new chips to "deceive" the market.
