Freezing ever since installing second set of Ram

UPDATE!!!
I have a feeling that it may not actually be my RAM, around the same time that I installed my ram I also installed a program called "key scrambler" which is an anti-keylogging software that gets integrated into firefox. Yesterday I got a BSOD because of the stupid program. It said clearly that the driver for keyscrambler had crashed my system.
I do recall at least half of the times that I have either been opening firefox, or doing something related to it which freezes my PC. I am going to hold off on re-installing my new set of ram for the time being to see if it still freezes, and at that point ill just uninstall keyscrambler to see if it stops the freezing!
So far, other than the BSOD yesterday my computer has yet to freeze, but I have to wait at least another week to really make sure it wont.

Okay so, I have an Asus M4A87TD-EVO motherboard and I've been happy with it for almost 8 full months until I installed an additional 4GB of ram (2x2GB) to my pre-existent 4GB to have a total of 8GB installed in all 4 DIMMS.

Anyways ever since installing the new set (Same brand, voltage, and series [G.skill eco 1.35v] with different speeds) I've been freezing like 2-5 times per week of using my PC for about 6 hours a day.

SPECS:
MOBO: ASUS M4A87TD-EVO
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE - Stock (3.2GHz)
GPUs: x2 reference 5770's crossfired
PSU: Corsair TX 750W
OLD RAM: G.Skill Eco Series DDR3 Dual Channel 1.35v 1600mhz (F3-12800CL7-2GBECO) - Supposedly not failing 2x2gb
NEW RAM: G.Skill Eco Series DDR3 Dual Channel 1.35v 1333mhz
(F3-10666CL7D-4GBECO) - Supposedly faulty ram 2x2gb

It's the ram. If it happened right after it, well it's going to be that.

Memtest does not tell you what stick it is. I like to test mine one at a time to be sure. It's not fun when a customer has 24GB of it. But I'm pretty sure your memtest is going to through a error up.

Run a prime 95 in high stress ram mode and see if it crashes. It probably will.

Haha its funny that you say that, Im doing a blend test right now as we speak!

So you think I should remove my old ram and just test the new ram in memtest? OR should I just start by doing all of my ram? Also that other thread about my motherboard being faulty is scary to hear...

Alright, since Memtest doesnt wanna boot off of my removable drive (I made it the only option in my bios even) I will have to do this the really hard way.. Im gonna have to use my PC for the next week or so and if it doesnt freeze within 2 weeks lets say without the extra ram installed, I know that either the ram or my MOBO's 2nd or 4th DIMMs are pooched.

Are the modules double sided ?!
This sounds like a IMC problem.Put 1,3-1,35 Volts in the CPU NB see what happens.
AMD IMC may fail with all banks loaded as it would be the case here.
Try lowering the frequency as well.

Okay, so how do I check if the modules are double sided,
what the hell is an IMC?
and could I have damaged my processor because of any of this?

Also I have an AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE C3 stepping...

I am getting a blank CD to burn MEMtest onto today. Also my current CPU-NB Voltage is set to 1.100V by default... and what am I lowering the frequency of?

Okay, so I found out what the IMC is... and I forgot to mention that both sets of ram have different timings and clock speeds, but they are the same voltage, manufacturers, and series.

Set the memory at 1333mhz and at the timings the slowest modules have.
You can go even to a slower frequency to check what happens.
Make sure you don t mix up the NB voltage with the CPU NB voltage (which by default should be 1,200 V and not 1,100V).
NB (chipset) is not to be confused with the CPU NB which refers to the IMC aka Integrated Memory Controller.
So once the CPU NB is set at 1,300-1,350 V (from the 1,200V defaults) you should be able to see some enhancement.
Also run Memtest per each stick for 3-4 hours to check if they are all ok.
Have fun !

Higher overclocks are a little bit harder to maintain when you have 4 DIMMs popluated as opposed to 2. You may have to back it down some now that you're running 4 sticks. You might wanna fill in your sig rig specs for other people to reference as they help you.

At the moment I have my timings set to auto (9-9-9-24), and my clock speed to 1333mhz, which is the lowest of the two.

The other thing is that in my MOBO manual (M4A87TD EVO) it says that the maximum NB voltage is 1.25v.. but my HyperTransport Voltage can be set to 1.4V

PM me so we can talk together a bit faster biggrin.gif
I am totally and utterly confused and I dont want to go changing random voltages around.

Thanks for trying to help though i really appreciate it.. I will go with what you're saying but im gonna PM you lol
