just beware about gigabyte mobos that support am3+. Only the black socket version supports it (revision 3.x only). The older revisions do NOT support am3+ which... seriously PISSES ME OFF.

They will just need a BIOS update

I'm really hoping that my ASUS has high enough quality power systems to be able to safely OC a BD just fine

Hoping that will change in the future as other manufacturers follow through with their support.

From what I learn it's better to skip +..... and go with AM4 or whatever comes after AM3+
it's always feels that AM+ is temporary and never releases full potential

Ummmm I don't think so. The top Giga boards should support Bulldozer.

That's not true, at least in my case. I'm using the 2.0 revision of my board and there is a BIOS update out already for AM3+ compatibility.

Same here,with a revision 2.1,no BIOS updates.mad.gif
Yet Asus and others have AM3+ compatibility with the existing AM3 boards with a white socket. Maybe the quality isn't good enough for AM3+ on a Gigabyte board? I'm not buying another Gigabyte motherboard.

i dont understand why someone will want to put the fx in a board that is just going to hurt the performance.

Totally this! Seriously the new AM3+ boards are cheap why wouldn't you just buy one to maximize the FX chip potential?!

I'm set on the new GA-990FX-UD5 board, in fact my local rep is bringing the first one in here where I live just for me biggrin.gif When they are released that is.
