GPU watercooling solution needed..

Thread Starter
Ok so I'm ready to expand my loop to my vid cards but I'm unsure what a good solution is as I have non reference pcb cards.
I have two of these gigabyte gtx 470 soc cards http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3569#sp and I have been combing the net looking for a full card block but can't find one.
First I'm wondering if anyone knows of a full block that will work for these cards and if not what would be a suitable solution to watercool these bad boys.
I would prefer not to have to sell these to get a reference card so I'm trying to find a solution..
Thanks in advance,
Nick

Well 1 option is to get a GPU block that's universal and will fit the 470. Bad thing is it will only cover the gpu part. However, you can buy some ram sinks to stick on your ram chips and controllers which will keep them very cool.

Pretty much used an Enzotech VGA-IS block with ram sinks (post detailing my loop is here). I don't know if I'd recommend the Enzotech block, mainly because this is my first loop (and I don't like to recommend/condemn things I've tried only once) and I was a noob at installing it (got fingerprints on the base, and other stuff). If you do decide to get it, I must warn you that you cannot use any fittings but the ones that come with the block. I did that, and my block started leaking like crazy; when I used the fittings that came with it, everything was just fine.

Btw, temps are 44 degrees max playing games maxed out (JC2, BBC2), but average at 42. Remember, that's with fingerprints on the block as well.

Hope that helps.

Short of selling the cards and getting reference cards like other said get a GPU only block. Swiftech and EK make some nice GPU only blocks. The Swiftech MCW80 has fairly high restriction but will give you great results as shown in bundymania's testing on a 480.

Ok so I already have about 50 of these ram sinks here at my house I could use plus my cards already have them on the ram on the top side of the pcb. Is this solution enough without having a dedicated fan to blow at them? If so I will just order the universal blocks now. However I would prefer to use rotary fittings so should I stay away from the block you listed?

Don't get the MCW80's get the MCW82's... Much less restrictive.

Also hope you are getting a bigger/extra rad...

For me, not having any fans did just fine. However, I do have a total of 4 fans blowing on my card to keep the RAM and whatnot cool because I want to OC the crap out of my card. Since you have two of those cards I don't think you'll need to worry much about OC'ing, however.

The ramsinks will do fine with no fan directly blowing on them as long as your case has decent airflow.
