MEMORY HELP! 4Dimms not supported

Thread Starter
So I have a custom built PC, i'm not a total noob but i'm not an expert. I have 2x2GB of ADATA gaming memory installed into my ASROCK X58 extreme mobo. I would like to get 2 more of the same sticks and have a total of 8gigs of memory. This is super cheap only 50 bucks for the mems. Only problem is this

ftp://174.142.97.10/manual/X58%20Extreme.pdf

scroll to page 18 and you'll see under number 2 that it says "Due to Intel®
CPU spec definition, the system will not boot if only
one DIMM is installed into DDR3_A2, DDR3_B2 or DDR3_C2 slot."

yet this is the recommended setting they use so is there a way that I can make this work or will I have to sell my 4 gigs and by two sticks of 4x4 or go triple channel??? thanks for your help

I assume you have your original DIMMs in the DDR3_A1 and DDR3_B1 slots. Put one of the new modules in the DDR3_C1 slot and then put the other in the DDR3_A2 slot. It will be fine.

Like you said. . . .

is installed into DDR3_A2, DDR3_B2 or DDR3_C2 slot."

However, mixing memory, even identical sets, is not recommended. I was just helping someone else in another thread who more than likely ran into the same problem trying to add one set to another. This is why manufacturers test sets as a whole, because that is the only way they can guarantee stability.

If you referred to your MOBO manual it wold tell you what he just said. You have to install them in a specific way, because of the X58 controller.

I run 3 sticks @ 2 gig each in slots B1, B2, B3 only because there is a known issue with the A slots for my motherboard, 6 gigs of ram have been plenty so far but I don't do any video editing or rendering

running the ram in the way you are doing it forces dual channel mode instead of triple channel
