High temps for water cooling?? - Page 2

I'm sort of a watercooling noob.. but.. isn't the Swiftech Apogee an extremely restrictive block? And isn't the Swiftech MCP655 a low head pressure and high flow pump?

I'm confused about the "crappy radiator" comment.
Every review I've seen for them has them in the middle of the pack, with high marks for price/performance.

For a CPU only loop, the MCR320 is more than enough radiator, especially with 6 fans on it.

As for the problem, maybe bad mount, air in the loop, airflow issue?

Are the fans properly configured in push/pull so they are moving the air in the same direction?
Sounds like a dumb question, but there was this one guy recently that had the fans on both sides of the radiator blowing air in....

Nothing wrong with that rad or the multiplier. The block is just has a bad mount or the D5's set speed is too slow.

The speed on the pump is on the highest lvl.. There are no bubbles or air in the tubes. If anyone is familiar with the ABS Black Pearl case, I have the radiator with the fans in the bottom compartment blowing air out through the bottom of the case. The fans are pushing on top of the rad, and pulling on the bottom out of the case.

Reservoir to pump. Pump to radiator. Radiator to cpu block. Cpu block to reservoir.
That is the current loop.

I'd guess bad mount. I have nearly all the same components as you (started with an Apogee XT, Swiftech 320 Rad, MCP-655, microres) when I implemented phase first of my loop. I was seeing idle temps (california @ winterish) of 28-34 @ 5.2 GHz via my 2600K. Load max was 68. No clue ambient, sorry..although relatively cool.

As an update, via summerish california weather @ 5.25 GHz, my idles are 34-38 with peak loads hitting 71 Celsius. That includes 2 "320" rads + "420" rad, 655 & MCP-35X pump, two 6990s @ 1015/1500 (idles @ 34-36, load max @ 59). Your components are solid, just depends on what you want to add furthermore, that will determine how appropriate they are for your build. The low-head 655 pump prompted my first issue, not substantial enough upon adding GPU blocks. The rads aren't super top-end, but they love low displacement fans & cramming 6 around yours is more than suffice. Pull the Apogee off, & reapply. Good luck!

I have the I7 2600k sandy bridge with the h20 920 kuhler, and it's overclocked to 4.3 ghz with stock voltage, just changed the multiplier. the thing is when the liquid gets hot, usually to 40c with extreme setting on chillcontrolV and I stop the 100% load it actually keeps your processor warmer than stock, well for mine, but when I put it on silent I get temps at about 44 while gaming, unlike air coolers that cool little liquid that is vaporized by the heat and goes up the tubing to the top and turns back into liquid, which keeps the heatsink cool when it's on full load and brings down the heat right after you stop the load, for liquid cooling the copper plate can't really be cooled that well, since it's getting something that could be burning at 80+celsius at one side and is being cooled by a 40c on the other, eventually they go somewhere in between, depends on the temps of your room and your case how high and how low. also I heard the max temp of the i7 1366 could go 80c and work fine, if that's true you have a lot of leg room. I'm barely hitting 70c with one of my processors of my 2600k. the others are below 68 always. I think my paste might be a little too thick

I have the Lian Li V2000 (black pearl is based off of it) and the bottom compartment floor holes are tiny and the way each section is spaced is not suitable for direct fan intake or exhaust. You're likely getting some airflow problems there.

Also, if you're taking air from inside the case and exhausting it out the bottom, it is likely that the single intake fan in the front of the bottom compartment isn't supplying enough fresh air to the rad fans. Try changing the fan config to intake from the bottom and exhaust into the case and change the front intake to an exhaust as well (you don't have any other front intakes that would be sucking in the hot exhaust, correct?). Your case temps might suffer a bit, but at least the rad is getting fresh air and therefore should cool the CPU down some more.

I'm personally going to mod my side panels in a similar fashion to the TJ07 and intake air from the side into the rad and exhaust out the other side.
