Chalk

Today on my travels, I discovered a game which took me back to my preschool days. It reminded me of all the chalk drawings that used to litter my pavement as a child. I always wondered what would happen if those drawings could come to life.

Today, they have.

This is a game called "Chalk". As you could probably tell by the name, it's about mastering your little stick of powder against THE DARK EVIL. It's such a beautiful looking game, by far one of the most striking visual styles I've come across. Everything looks very crisp and gritty, which is perfect considering this is a world made up of small ancient marine organisms bones. I just found out that's what chalk's made of, how fun.

What's nice about Chalk is that you can control your character using two methods. Just the mouse (Using Left Click to draw and right click to move) or a combination of WASD keys and the mouse. Your main weapon is one stick of chalk which you can use for a variety of things. You can use it as a shield, as a bridge, and even as slingshot! There's a nice tutorial that teaches you most of the ropes, but the really fun stuff you'll have to figure out for yourself . Stringing together combos and timing your reflections just right is immensely gratifying. There's also a grading system in the game which gives you a letter rating after every level. I'm a huge perfectionist so seeing that was a nice touch.

Chalk is a delightful game that'll keep you busy for a while. The production value alone is tremendous and I highly suggest you check it out!

I don't think so.
It does remind me of a Nintendo DS game though.
