Strange band on HDTV monitor

Thread Starter
Right now i'm trying something new, hooking up my sig rig to the TV in my basement, It's a Sony Bravia 46in TV, and its connected with my pc with a VGA cable and a VGA to DVI adapter at the graphics card.

when I was playing bfbc2 on 1920x1080(**** it is AMAZING), I can see green bands moving from up to down on the screen

my question is that what is causing it? is it the VGA-DVI adapter? should I use a HDMI cable from my graphics card to the TV instead, would that help?

Basically you're taking a digital (DVI) signal through an analog cable (VGA), and converting it back to digital once it does hits the TV's circuitry via VGA interface.

Your best bet would be to go to some small local retailer and pick yourself up a cheap HDMI cable, you most likely can get a 6' one for around $15-$20. If you're not in a hurry, Newegg had some for $3.99 free shipping/ standard price, I'll edit with a link when i find them.
