Ehh... How do microphone's work via TOSLINK?

Apparently my headset is supposed to work (the microphone and sound) plugged into this white box that it came with, and the white box is plugged into my motherboard's S/PDIF out. Sound works perfectly, but I cannot get the microphone to work.

How do I set up the microphone? Do mic's even work through TOSLINK?

SPDIF out is out only, the mic must plug into a mic jack or something. Which headset?

Does the box have a 3.5mm output or anything?

What kind of headphones do you have?

Tritton AX 720. That is very odd... Hmm...

Yeah, the microphone will not work. The white audio box just has one cable which leads out, and that is a SPDIF. However, the headset has a microphone on it.
