where to begin??

Thread Starter
Hi everyone! this is my first forum that i have joined. I have been reading lots of the threads and decided you guys are very helpful and yet so polite so i decided to become a member!

So where should i begin?? I broke 3 laptops in the last year or so including a macbook pro, a HP, and finally a toshiba. I guess i like to download unsecured things off the internet and play those silly mini pop-up games. I have been a gamer off and on but lately I have became addicted to League of Legends but my current working laptop will not support the game! So I decided to build a computer, in the process, hopefully i will learn some useful things to prevent deaths to future electronics.

I have been researching a while now on parts and components for a desktop... but being a GIRL... I am so undecisive!! Please help me find a build so I can finally start the building process which I have been looking forward to so much!!

My budget is around $700. I have nothing, except the monitor. I am going to use this PC mostly for school and games. I want something that will bulletproof lagging in LoL.. and also ready for the new DIABLO 3 and of course to show off to the guys that a girl can build an amazing looking and working PC.

Thank you in advance for all the help and suggestions!!!

ps... Please remember im new to computers and a girl so dont get to technical with the terms!! but i am very interested in the cross-fire graphic cards thingamajig!

Jokes aside, for budget build get a Gigabyte mobo with 8x-8x PCI-e slots, Phenom II x4 955, 4GB Kingston 1333 CL9, two Radeon HD5770 and a good 600W PSU and you got yourself a monster rig smile.gif

And Welcome to the greatest forum in the Universe! smile.gif

I am a fan of ffejrxx's setup thumb.gif

Just a few things I'd like to point out:
965 for same price as 955 right now
For an ultra low price choice I am a bigger fan of the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UDK9U6"]NZXT GAMMA[/ame]

The Rosewill Green 630W, for a significantly lower price, is a great PSU (despite the branding, the Rosewill Green series is an odd one out and great PSUs) and will have around the same capabilities as that TX650W.
For an AM3+ compatible 890FX board I find the ASRock Extreme5 a better deal

And lets not forget to get yourself of the windows 7 operating system itself tongue.gif

nice adds, im no pro with psus, thought overkill with the corsair so she could go crossfire later without a new one

with the new customer discounts, she might be able to squeese in win7 for around $700

Wow!! Thank you for all the help and suggestions. So lucky to have found this forum with so many sincere helpful members.

Love that advice on making several different accounts to save money. Never knew guys can be that tricky and smart! Lol!!

CPU: looks like I should get the 965BE according to XD since it's going for the same price as the 955.

PSU: this is where I get the most trouble picking. Everyone seems to like the CORSAIR but they are alittle more in price. But more money means better quality right?
I'm debating between the TX650 and the HX650. I understand the main difference is that one is modular (more prefferred) and the other is not. What does it mean that it is modular and does it make that much of a difference?

GPU: forgot to mention I found myself a spare XFX Radeon HD4850. Should I go ahead and get a better card like the one you guys suggested or try to cross fire with it? And how do I do that? Do I need another identical card to be able to cross?

Ram: using the genius idea of making several accounts, should I go with the G. Skill Ripjaws series 4GB (2x2GB) to take advantage of the $15 off $50??

Case: what do you guys think about the Lian Li cases? I really like the look of simplicity and the cable management and specially the tool-less design. But that doesn't really matter since if tools mean more security to the components.
Yes, I took a look at the NZXT Gamma and really like the look but how does it do in cable management and noise level?

And my final question... Will this Setup be a very loud unit???

Thank you again for all the sincere help and comments!! Very much appreciated!!! I aplologized in advance if I asked some stupid questions!!

Just to throw it out there $120 more gets her a I7 950 with A Sabertooth or Gigabyte X58-UD3R that would stomp a Phenom II 965. All other hardware remains the same.
