H60 Temp Q's

post #1 of 12
Thread Starter
Okay, so I recently (About a month ago) got my new PC...

I'm using an H60 in push-pull, on an AMD Phenom 955 BE @ 4.0ghz

Idle temps are around 30~32*C (CPU / Idle )
Case temps are around 27~28*C (CPU / Idle )
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Max load temps are around 36~38*C (CPU / ML )
Case temps are around 28~29*C (CPU / ML )
Voltage: 1.3800v
Since this is at 4.0ghz, is there any extra performance I will see by going past this?
How far would you think that I might be able to push this rig?
is that 4ghz stable? Are you checking with prime95 and intel burn test?
If it's stable at 4Ghz you'll probably find you'll need to give it a lot more vcore to get past that.
Yeah I already ran Prime95 for the day. Well, what do you think would be my max?
I'd leave it at 4Ghz.
Have you set that in the BIOS?
Yes, I did the overclocking straight from the Bios... I'd rather do it that way over software. But thanks for the advice .
Save that overclock as your default in BIOS then go for what you can get!
Your temps seems quite good,but thats because voltages are relatively low.
Increasing CPU-NB will reap benefits too.
Well, what does the NB do really, (Not really familiar with every aspect so far :3)...?
The northbridge is the data bus between your CPU and your memory.
Total waste of time OC the CPU on a phenom without the CPU/NB the CPU/NB is where its at wth phenoms, you want it around 2700 with that cpu (same as mine) you will then find heat is a problem! go for around 3800cpu with 2700-2800 on the cpu/nb i think you will find that optimal.
If you insist on 4ghz cpu you will have to bring the CPU/NB down....due to heat as you also have to increae Volts to the cpu/nb to OC it..... good luck
You mean the cpu/nb not the nb
