I love my Atrix, and as Live_free said, once you play with your phone a bit, and use greyblur, or gingerblur, your fine, I admit, motoblur is crappy, but the phones hardware more then makes up for it.

I don't get what the hype is on cm7. I know it is all open-source and future-proofs the phone for os upgrades, but on my cappy, it ran slow and hell, and eventually I switched to gr-12 and I haven't looked back. Its just way smoother and more responsive.

How long ago did you use it, keep in mind CM7 for cappy JUST went beta and got official support before that it was just some guy working on porting it.

do you mind writing a small paragraph on how the atrix is "better"?

CM7 is in nightly/beta
its pretty smooth IMO, but hummingbird gets bogged down and I'm running out of RAM all the time which sucks when android has to reload my launcher and switching between apps gets slow

I've heard the Atrix is going to be a pain to root and even after that it is very easy to break. I would wait for that SGS2.

even though the atrix may be a pain to root, it is a downgrade to go to the captivate gotta agree with Scrappy here. The Captivate is the Galaxy, not the Galaxy S 2, despite what the idiots at the AT&T store try to tell you, dam near got into a fight with one trying to push that **** off on me.

Gingerbreak makes it easy to root the thing, though. Every time Moto will update it, you just have to run the app and let it do the breaking.

And actually, the Atrix with its flaws and glitches isn't all that bad. I compared the speeds with it against my CM7 Inspire 4G and the Atrix actually scrolls through homescreens and pulls down the notification bar smoother than my overclocked phone. It doesn't slow down after opening a multitude of apps, and never ever goes down to 40% charge after a day's worth of heavy usage (Tegra games, WiFi tether, GPS navigation).

tempting.....but the SGS2 would cost me my kidney and my arm

besides....having a dual core SoC and 1 GB RAM sounds good enough for me even if the SGS 2 has a more powerful SoC

however, its the thing about software thats really making me think twice about going forward

I would wait Dual Core is growing really fast and the Cappy will still be a relevant phone for quite awhile, wait till the dream phone comes by.
