I can tell the difference between 4-5k/d and .5 k/d

I used to compete in local tournaments for Halo 1/2 (on xbox) back in the day so I was pretty good with the controller. I hooked my Xbox controller into my PC to try out BC2 and I got roflstomped the whole time.. You just can't compete..
But give up your mouse and keyboard completely...once you get it right you would do fine. It is like when I stopped using the wasd keys to move and now I use the asdf keys to move. It took a month to get it down good but since it is a much more comfortable hand postition and the qwerty keys are more accessible I am much better player than I was before.

And you are just you...this guy I play BF2142 with can snap his controller from head shot to head shot just as fast as I high dpi mouse. Maybe faster. He litterally "snaps" his analog stick with close to perfect accuracy.

Basically your wrong, just google microsoft doing trials allowing PC gamers to play XBOX gamers and see the words used to describe what happened "no chance" "destroyed" etc..

I also own a PS3 and play Killzone 3 quite abit on there, and while certain aspects of my game carry between both PC / PS3 aiming is certainly not one of them the mouse certainly offers massive advantages.

And going back to your earlier statement, when I played at Quakecon I certainly didn't see anybody whipping a xbox controller out to compete

The controlled for FPS gaming is much harder to use, some people are really good with the controller, I can go on BC2 with the xbox controller and do alright but it's always more beneficial to use the mouse for aiming because it is just so easy.

This is an awesome thing though, I think if they do cross platform PC gamers will have to use a controller to play against xbox players, which would be fair.

Enter the cross platform and this falls apart but all I am saying is that both mediums have an art to their controls and you can't just bash one just because you are the other.
If you are as good as you think you are, turn off the auto aim.

I know my game went up when I turned it off.

anyone who really believes that a controller vs mouse/keyboard is an apple to apple comparison is an idiot. They are completely different platforms. Try playing a sports game with a mouse and keyboard and you'll run into all sorts of issues, its a lot harder to control directional movement with WASD than it is with a analog thumbstick. The playing field isn't level. If you think aim assist is anything more than a tiny nudge to help make up for the lack of precision controlling, you really can't have played any modern FPS on a console... it doesn't make someone a "noob" because they play console games, nor does it mean they lack skill. If anything, a console gamer moving to PC will probably have a lot easier time than a PC player moving to console... all they are doing is giving them access to a better method of control.

Personally I prefer sitting in my livingroom with my 47inch 1080p tv and surround sound, using a controller. I currently have a hand injury that makes it impossible for me to play xbox so I have been PC gaming a lot more. Despite the tighter controls, I miss being able to just sit down in my recliner and fire up my xbox to play. Sure I could hook my computer up to my TV and get a wireless mouse and keyboard, but it seems unwieldy and awkward.

You could do that but use the xbox controller. The only down side is that you would be completely destroyed in online FPS games.

I prefer to play on PC but PC fanboys are becoming more and more annoying and ridiculous as days go by, if they stopped their superiority complex (while they probably live in a basement) and actually bought their games like console gamers, maybe, just maybe, our platform wouldn't be dying and receiving ports 6 months after the consoles.

Oh and the mouse/keyboard argument is very annoying too, of course you will be better with a mouse, doesn't mean that most people on earth doesn't prefer to play with a controller, otherwise all consoles would come with a mouse and keyboard as standard, it's like some of my hardcore fighting games fan friends I have who can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to use a stick to play Street Fighter or King of Fighters, I'm just not as confortable and less able with them than with a regular 6 bouttons pad like the Saturn one.
Years ago we used to play the pc version of mortal kombat sharing a common keyboard. It played just fine.

Also in sports simulators (those of the 90s) the guy who had the keyboard had an advantage.

Platformers were also easier.
I think though it is a matter of use. It is good for pc gamers to try out any console though, so as to get used to the controls.

Believe me, once you are used to a k/m combo you can play anything.

I think due to spending some time with a dreamcast i lost some of my keyboard reflexes and precision.

Ohh right, forgot. Sorry.

What kind of injury prevents you from playing on a controller while allowing keyboard and mouse?
