I played consoles for years before I played PC games and I didn't (and still haven't) noticed any real difference in aiming aside from the obvious controller vs mouse.

In GTA I know there is an auto-aim sort of thing but in CoD, Halo, Battlefield, ect. what are you guys talking about?

It's not like the game points to their head for you. If anything I think there might just be slightly larger hitboxes on the console.
There is a HUGE aim assist.

Start up a game of COD/Halo/whatever offline with just two people. Sit one player completely still, looking forward, while you take the second controller and move towards the still person. Just run directly in front of them and watch their screen. You can back up and move around again just to see how different distances change how much it moves.

Or you can do it the other way. You aim at the person standing still and move left and right. The crosshair will track without you touching the right stick at all.

I'm pretty sure console players are well aware that mouse and keyboard is best, but its not like everyone wants to buy an expensive pc just for gaming like us...200-300 for a decent gaming system is great provided that you care more about gameplay than graphics.

no one is arguing that the analog stick can compare with mouse and keyboard, i think the real argument is whether console players have skill. I don't really think that is arguable. It takes skill to be good at a console FPS. Aim-assist exists to help mitigate the lack of finesse that an analog stick allows, it does not play the game for you, it just makes the game playable. The end.

Which really just proves that shooters don't belong on consoles. I think the last "FPS" I played on my console was Halo, but being a die-hard counterstrike player I simply cannot tolerate a controller + aim-assist.

However, what I DO love controllers (or gamepads) for is fighting games like Street Fighter/Capcom/Marvel/etc and racing games. Keyboards/mice feel simply far too awkward for those games.

Then there are RPG's - it's debatable which style is more suited for RPG's. Since it involves more "looking around" I instantly gravitate towards a mouse + WASD. But then a ton of RPG's also involve doing combo attacks (e.g. Devil May Cry / Bayonetta) for which I would use nothing other than a controller.

Worth it to play the exclusives though, better to be able to play some games then not at all.

Sorry I'm later to the game but, I am a computer and electronics engineer and I have "a friend" (wink wink) that repairs Xbox 360's and PS3's and I'm sorry to tell you guys but the fact of the matter is that the consoles just aren't that powerful. It's very plausible that Xbox 360 games will run at max settings on a computer running a 8600 GT. That doesn't mean that I'm a fanboy for either side of the discussion. I own 3 Xbox's, a PS3's, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii, my pretty nice Sig rig, and had to get rid of a classic Nintendo (blame my wife, she said I had too many consoles.... I had to tell her that there is no such thing lol). I love playing games on any medium that I can get my hands on. PC's are better for some things and consoles are better for others. If you are a fanboy on either side of the fence then your just denying yourself the opportunity of enjoying what the other side of the fence has to offer. Why limit yourself with that? I hope that Windows 8 does in fact have cross platform comparability. It opens new challenges to the players. You can just as easily play on a Xbox with a keyboard and mouse as you can on a PC with a controller.

^ agreed. Taking sides is only hurting yourself. Especially if you consider yourself a gamer.

Pc only gamers always whinge about missing out on certain titles. Imagine being able to finally experience those games. Well the xbox ones anyway

I do hope we don't have to play their games at 720p30, that would kill me after playing most games at 1080p60 the last few years.

@lawrencendlw

supposedly the pc will not be 'running' these games, but actually just 'emulating' them. considering how much power the original xbox emulator needs to run steady framerates, this could be uglier than anticipated.
