When people talk about console "aim assist" what are they referring too exactly?
I played consoles for years before I played PC games and I didn't (and still haven't) noticed any real difference in aiming aside from the obvious controller vs mouse.
In GTA I know there is an auto-aim sort of thing but in CoD, Halo, Battlefield, ect. what are you guys talking about?
It's not like the game points to their head for you. If anything I think there might just be slightly larger hitboxes on the console.
Start up a game of COD/Halo/whatever offline with just two people. Sit one player completely still, looking forward, while you take the second controller and move towards the still person. Just run directly in front of them and watch their screen. You can back up and move around again just to see how different distances change how much it moves.
Or you can do it the other way. You aim at the person standing still and move left and right. The crosshair will track without you touching the right stick at all.
