PS4 should support itself as a multi-media device much like the PS3. Hopefully that is a given in their books. They might also want to jump on the DX11 bandwagon and code specifically outside of OpenGL.
I disagree. Not only is that about as likely to happen as pigs flying or MS getting Blu-ray in their next Xbox, but the problems with coding for their console has nothing to do with Open GL, but rather the embedded version they decided to implement.
As for multi-media device, no thanks. Cut back on the unnecessary crap: Blu-ray video playback, web browser etc, cut down on licensing costs for this, make this reflect with a lower retail pricing and just sell us a games console, that's what people pay for. Everyone has a netbook/smart phone/PC/external cheap players nowadays for "multimedia" anyway, no point packing in a gazillion useless functions for which everyone will have to pay extra. If I want a Blu-ray player/home theater system I'll buy one separately.Edited by Am* - 5/27/11 at 4:24pm
