When the world went from dual core to quad core, now even more resources were shared. Suddenly the L3 cache was also shared across multiple cores. Were these "less than cores"? No.

Architectures will continue to evolve to match needs. You'll probably see a modular approach for intel some time in the future as well. Continuing to overprovision cores really doesn't make sense because the benefits just aren't there.
I was just wondering as people are saying the modules will show up as a core each one. Thanks so much. I didn't want to get the 8 core and only have quad.

What, Risk would that be i'm not trying to start a frame war here.

But, "because isn't released" isn't a good reasons why their not releasing any Benchmarks because is coming out in the 3Q of 2011 or so say and so that's why i was asking

and for companies for not published any info about their new product/software check this video about windows 8 reviled from CES 2011

There is risk in releasing information about a non-finalized product. If a company releases a benchmark, but cannot live up to it... it destroys credibility. This could happen if a last minute design bug or hardware flaw was discovered. Some examples include NVIDIA Fermi (leaking 40nm process), AMD Phenom (TLB bug), Intel Larabree (lots), Transmeta Crusoe (poor performance), JMicron jmf602 (stuttering).

A released product is a finalized product.

I never said companies do not published any info about their new product/software. I had said companies generally do not published in-depth reviews before launch. AMD has provided Bulldozer info and general numbers before.

Think about this: OEM supply chains are about a quarter deep, sometimes more.

Release benchmarks today, people stop buying. Even if they are not going to buy BD, they think that waiting will get them a lower price on phenom.

Any disruption in the supply chain can cost your partners millions of dollars. It's real money.

Official benchmarks signal the product is around the corner and customers put purchases on hold.

Ahh, the wait is killing me! I really hope we will see some benchmarks on 7-11 june.
