ram issue

Thread Starter
Hi, I have a problem with putting 4gb of ram in my machine. Workks perfectly with 3, but with 4 (in any order of slots, and ram tested ok) it goes into a continouos loop of restarting, almost like its overloading/tripping. Im not sure why this happens and wanted to know if i could fix it.

I have manually set the timings for ram and put voltage to 2.2.

What im not sure about is MCH. Do i only change CORE setting? I did try to up the core a touch but ive had no luck...problem persists. also changed from turbo to standard ram setting...ditto.

ram is patriot 4x1gb , 800mhz, 4-4-4-12, 2.2v - gigabyte pc2 6400 , ddr2 mobo

im really sumped and dont want to mess with more settings without help. I presume i just had to change ram timings to manual/voltage and the the MCH core....any help much appreciated as im going nuts

cheers

Andrej

what is your system? are you mix and matching RAM? Is the RAM compatible with your motherboard? We need more info.

yes...all ram is good. I can do any config with any of the ram stciks except having 4 in at one time....then pc loops...its got to be a voltage issue im guessing. It doesnt affect the pc with having three in, it juts bugs the hell outa me.

Last dimm slot is bad? Did you try installing the ram in the last 3 slots instead of the first 3? Try that to see if the last slot is bad.
ummmm whats the ram rated for 2.2? try 2.1

or it could be your psu not being able t o keep[ up... slim chance but plausable. what psu do you have
