I wonder how this'll work if you want to also get an SSD boot drive further down the line? Surely you'll end up having the same stuff on the integrated SSD as well as your dedicated SSD drive with similar access times, which is then wasting one of the two.. which probably isn't ideal.
Pretty sure there was an Screenshot here of the New RST UI it would let u set up 64 GB SSD Space as Hybrid Raid/Turbocache what ever they call it and the rest of the SSD´s is accessed Native or in Raid0/1 whatever u set it up to.

Edit: If u have a SSD Larger then 64GB setting it up as Smartcache would be a waste i guess, but it´s an all in one solution lets say u have a 128gb SSD and a 1TB HDD u end up with a 1,12TB Filesystem u can put all ur stuff on one NTFS partition, and the Software decides whats on ur SSD and Whats on ur HDD i´mproving overall Access time of ur Hole Filesystem u dont have to care about Partitioning and haveing a OS/Data Disk anymore its to have a more integrated System.

Wich of corse might not be what pepole on this Forum want, i for myself want the most control about my System i can have and want to decide it myself, but alot of users want it the Windows way, Powerswitch on, Boot, click the nice Icon WIN!

So let's assume i have 2TB hdd and using that 20GB SSD for caching. What if i use every file on my 2TB drive frequently? How can 20GB SSD provide faster caching then?

The SRT is smart enough not to cache large sequential data (i.e. movies). SRT also caches data this is most often used.

That said, what real-world consumer usages would utilize 2TB of data regularly.
Once again...

It can store the Master File Tables of the Filesystem reduceing Head Movement on the HDD it can Store System Libarys like directx wich every Game/Browser/otherAPP uses wich is only a small part of the hole Files large Files like Movies that read Sequential dont need lots of Head movement or Access Time u wont Notice it there but u will Notice it When u Load Firefox wich loads alot of Libs and u compare 10-20MS Head movement to 100 NS on a SSD the SSD provides u with a 1/100 of the time to load ur Browser as an example.

What would be the effect of it on gaming if the game was installed on a regular hard drive anyway?

Ever since I first heard about gigabyte doing this, I was pretty excited. This is awesome for people on a lower budget trying to get the most performance out of their system as possible.

If this motherboard is priced around $200-250, it will be a great option for people. Any more than that, and it looses its value.
