Bad Company 2: Sudden lag on crowded areas.

Hey!

Well normally my fps on this game is usually from 50-60 on normal areas, but when the map is on Cold War/Oasis and on extremely crowded areas with lots of explosions, the frames goes down to a state where I cant manage to move and thus usually gets me killed. Everything's already set to medium with all the extra graphical non-sense put to 0/false on the settings.ini file, at 1440-990 res. I dont know if its my specs but I think with these, I can pretty much run this on stable, non laggy framerates.

BTW this is a fresh assembly because I just assembled my computer last week and tested out bad company 2 but was REALLY disappointed on the performance

Help really appreciated!

Oc your video card and CPU. 2.5Ghz will hurt you in this game. It likes high clocks. After doing so you should see a increase in performance. Also turn the effects detail to low so the explosion and what not aren't as fps destroying

WHEN OVERCLOCKING BE SURE TO WATCH YOUR TEMPS.

I've heard that C2Qs run hot.

he has a 45nm C2Q, its the 65nm quads that run hot.
However, his mobo has very few VRMs, so he should definitely not overclock much, i would recommend he lower voltage as much as possible at stock clocks, then raise one notch and try to oc. If the voltage is still below stock, raise one more notch and try to go further. The oc will be very small, but his vrms will have a better chance of surviving.

OT: go into your driver settings and make sure AA is set to forced off. don't bother asking me how to do that though, the only nvidia graphics cards i've ever owned are a 5200 ultra and a 7050 integrated.

Cant OC yet.. Still have to buy a decent cooler and oc'ing on stock petrifies me. I also went to other forums and saw that they're also having sudden lag drops even on faster rigs with high clocked processors.(i7 and dual 480's etc). Getting really frustrated here man hahaha. But nevertheless, did some tests on low-med-high settings, all ran the same fps. Tried to stay at high and the game ran great but when I go to crowded areas the lag kicks in for like 3 seconds and goes back to stable, playable fps.

hmm sudden lag for a few seconds with dual cards smells like micro stutter to me

but my xeon and 470 SLI's never get micro stutter or anything......
I don't have any issues that you have....are you running folding or some other resource intensive program in the background?

It shouldnt be dipping that bad. What graphics drivers are you running?

Make sure you download the intel chipset drivers, they have to be manually installed through device manager.

And foremost you need to OC the CPU.

There's nothing at alll. Even ran GameBooster Pro just to see if I can get any substantial improvement on the sudden frame drop.

I think as soon as you enter a crowded area in any online FPS it lags.
For example. While playing tf2 i get around 230fps but the second i look at more than 4 people my fps drops to 30-50 fps.

GBP doesn't do anything unless your on a P4 era system

OC your CPU and you should see some gains

Running on latest drivers from nvidia. Don't really know anything about the intel chipset drivers, is it the cd installer that came with the motherboard? If so, then yes I installed that. Gonna OC soon. As soon as I get a decent cooler. Processor runs on 43@idle and 55-60@100%load. Actually considering oc'ing to 2.8 on stock. But I dont know because I don't want to bet on stock heatsinks.

Btw, do you think its ok to OC on stock? Just a minimal boost to 2.8 on stock if thats alright with my idle temps.
