Is the Samsung Galaxy SII's bootloader locked?

This question is mainly to those that already have access to the phone in Europe and Asia, the phone will be launching on Verizon as the Samsung function and it looks like it will have all the features of the base phone, however I haven't heard much discussion on the subject of rooting/jailbreaking this phone. I know HTC will no longer lock bootloaders but what is Samsung's stance on this?

samsung has stated, as well as other have figured out, that the SGS II won't have a locked bootloader.

I think people have even found that samsung is shipping some phones with perma root IN the kernel, and if you don't have perma root in the kernel, the devs have a way to integrate root in the kernel using kernel source, then using a software tool called "ODIN" to flash the kernel to the phone.

Alright, cool, looks like I'll have no issue rooting the phone, here's to having a good experience with my first smartphone.
