Bookshelf Speaker questions

How come the watts for Bookshelf speakers are rarely stated?? Also can all bookshelf speakers connect to a on-board sound card?? I was looking into Swan Diva 2.1s and they honestly look amazing, but I am not sure what equiptment i would need for them to run. I was looking to spend 100-150, 200 TOPS if it is significantly better, been looking at M-Audio 40, Swan, Klipsch 2.1s.

I listen to alot of rap/r&b would use speakers for music/games/movies 33/33/33 probably. Any other bookshelf/satellite speaker recommendation would be accepted too. Another question, what are those mics on top of the Swan diva 2.1s and the B&W 805??

Wattage as in amount of power they need to be driven or wattage in the amount of power the integrated amp produces? It will be differently stated for active and passive speakers.

Active speakers have an integrated amp and can be plugged directly into a soundcard or other analog output. Passive speakers require amplification via a receiver or power amp. In your price range I would stick with active speakers.

For your uses I would probably go with Promedia 2.1s, they'll have the bass you're looking for in rap and r&b.

As for the "mic" on top of B&Ws I have no idea what you're talking about, they don't have mics.

Lol those aren't mics, that's the tweeter. It reproduces the high frequencies. You'll often see it as the small circle towards the top-middle of regular bookshelves.

The wattage is almost always stated. Even then it's the power it can handle for passive or the power the built in amp makes.

The Swan 2.1s need a separate amp. To really make them shine you would have to spend more money than the speakers cost. DAC and an amp.

They aren't mics those are the tweeters.
