Power Supply Whistling [Only in EVE-Online]

Hi,

I have a bit problem with my psu . (Tagan BZ 800W)

It's working without problems while post , loading win ect . It's also fine while benching like Vantage, Heaven ,LinX, Prime 95 or even LinX + Heaven = about 670W load on psu.

But when i start EVE-Online (mmorpg) on low level details it starts whistle and it's quite loud ,when I start second instance of EVE it's even bit louder ... I won't try third - In this situation whole pc is using about 480-520W

Anybody knows what could be problem ? For sure it's not problem with high load cos it's 800W psu and max load was 670W.

I am rly confused , should I replace this psu ? Is it big problem ?

I was quite scared when I found this : "This is caused by a blown capacitor. The electrolyte in the capacitor is boiling, and the capacitor has opened to vent the excess pressure. You will need to purchase a new power supply or have a computer technician do it for you."

Here is link to youtube, u can hear that sound at the end of movie :

Thx in advance

thats normal

It's caused by capacitors 'squealing' from vibration. Most caps do this, only sometimes they aren't insulated so you can hear that noise. It does not mean your caps are any lower quality than silent ones.

You're fine. Even some corsairs do this.

Well I would say replace or RMA(If possible),I had a PSU start doing that and it ended up Burning up my motherboard at the power plug header.

Try limiting your framerate so you're not drawing as much power while in the game. It should also lower your temps.

Ok, thank you for help. Btw why do u think that it does this sound only in some games ? And it's silent while benching (where psu is loaded much more)?

When I cap fps to 60, it stops doing this sound, But I dont think it's about general psu load cos in eve as I said load is only around 500W and it's doing this crazy sound but while running LinX + Uniengine at max seeting load is 670W and psu is silent, no whistling at all.

Any other opinion ?

I can't help, but I do have a side story: In The Witcher (first game), when I played dice in the game (and only when I played dice in the game), my backup battery..thing would start making the sound it makes when power gets cut to it. Except it keeps running just fine.

Never did figure out what caused that...
