Any word (in regards to 990FX)

Thread Starter
On a motherboard with three PCIe slots and a PCI slot, where having three dual slot PCIe cards won't block the PCI slot?

For example the Asus Sabertooth 990FX wouldn't work because you couldn't use the PCI slot without putting one of the GPUs in an X4 slot, which would hurt performance.

And the MSI 990FXA-GD90 wouldn't work because the only PCI slot would be blocked by the second PCIe slot's card.

Any models leaked yet that would meet my needs?

DISREGARD THAT I SUCK DERP

It's a single slot 9800GT.

(the final upgrade destination I have in mind is two unlocked HD6950s and a 9800GT for PhysX, but I still want to keep my PCI sound card)

Nope; looks like the third card would block the PCI slot.

It sounds like it would probably have to be an E-ATX board to fit all of that, but there's a chance it could all fit on a regular ATX board. I don't know of any right now like that though, sorry.

Oh didn't see it was a dual slot 9800 :/... Unless you drop it in the final slot maybe and pysx cards don't need more than x1 bandwidth anyways.

It can fit on an ATX. I just need a board that has a PCI slot that's at least two slots below the PCIe above it, or else PCI as the very top slot.

DERP!

It's a single slot 9800GT.

What you need is a mobo with a PCI-E x1 and a regular PCI slot before the main X16 slots. I don't think any current motherboard has a layout like that though.

I've still not seen a motherboard that has a 100% perfect slot layout.

Will this suit your needs?

Couldn't find any info on bandwidth. It just says PCIE2, PCIE4 and PCIE5 on the pictures I can find. But I guess it will be 16x/16x/8x due to the limitations in the chipset.
