I can guarantee you though, you will love the performance with both mice.
As someone who owned both mice, I beg to differ.
I was especially disappointed with the MX518's scroll wheel. It seems like Logitech just can't get wheels right. They can learn a lot from Steelseries or even Razer in that regard. Hell, even a cheap A4Tech I used had a better wheel.
The Deathadder has other problems, like no easily accessible CPI switch and slippery sides with no grip. Other than that it's not bad. (Until you drop it from a 5 cm height and it cracks.

IMO, it isn't. I just don't like the grip of the G9X. But try and see for yourself. Also, I can't really take a mouse with weights seriously, but that's more of a personal issue.

Nah, the 518 is a bit higher in the middle. It's noticeable.
OP, let us know if you're happy with the CM Spawn. It looks like a no-gimmicks mouse that focuses on usability. Another one of a comparable size (a tad larger) is the Xai, but it's expensive and I'm not sure if the shape is ergonomic. OTOH, the Ikari has a great shape. Kinda similar to the Spawn, but larger, so maybe not what you're looking for.
