New i7 2600k budget build

Hey! Been lurking for a long while and decided to ask what you guys think of my budget build. I m transfering my gpu + case from my old comp to this new one.

CPU: i7 2600k (gift)
Mobo: Asus p8P67 standard
RAM:
G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Core i5 1.5V Memory Kit
PSU: thermaltake Purepower 500Ng
GPU: Nvida GTS 250
Case: Antec Sonata III 500

I plan on either buying mugen scythe 2 or H50 from my friend since both are around 30-40 bucks

I plan on clocking the CPU to around 4ghz. I will be mostly gaming but I will also be running some coding stuff + VMware

Do you guys have any suggests? I know i7 2600k + budget doesn't seem to go together but I don't want to return a gift

I'd suggest some more RAM and GPU upgrade. VM's like more memory, as you likely know already. get 2x4GB sticks of RAM. A 460 or 560 would be a decent GPU upgrade.

I see I will consider that into my build. Just a quick question, transferring my HDD which was running on my old comp (Phenom II) do I need to do a clean install? Since everything is changed, do you have any suggestion to make this process less painful

edit: Do you think the H50 will be effective in the sonata case? I heard with bad air flow it might actually be worse for the cpu

you will probably need some driver. Taking an old Hdd from another build without formatting might make it bsod quite a bit, because of the changes in drivers. Anyway, you might want to switch that psu too.
