Quest for 3.2 ghz

Thread Starter
I started without being able to o.c at all. now I'm at 3.0 thanks to the fine people at overclock.net especially to HAF_wit who suggested i "check your memory divider". here is the link to my original post: http://www.overclock.net/general-pro...-c-my-rig.html

I still want to get to 3.2 but i have hit a wall. i cannot seam to o.c. past 3.0. here are my specs and new settings.

CPU.........................Intel Q6600 G0 @ 2.4, 9x267
Motherboard.............ASRock P45XE
RAM.........................G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

(I don't think this matters)
Video.......................XFX HD6870
Hard drives...............Corsair 128 SSD
PSU.........................Cooler Master 550w
CPU cooling..............Corsair H70
OS...........................Win. 7 Ult.

CPU link: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=29765

Motherboard link:http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P45XE

RAM link : http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=57

i only changed 3 settings in my bios everything else on auto.

CPU frequency:....333
strap:.................333
Dram frequency...333

so i ask for help as to what settings i might have to change to get to 3.2.
thanks in advance.

Have a look at that, that's an excellent template.

I don't know what chipset that chart is for, but that's alot of NB voltage for a P45. Good chart for expected vcore though. I'd start with 1.35V on the NB.

Thanks MR KROGOTH thats a great chart. I actually got to 3.2 last night with these settings
CPU frequency:....356
strap:.................356
Dram frequency...356

but it would crash under load

so i tried changing the multiplier to 8x400
CPU frequency:....400
strap:.................400
Dram frequency...400 (1:1) 5-7-7-20
but it would also crash under load

these are the only settings I've changed and all the voltages are on auto. I think it's time to change them I'll start with the chart settings. I'll post back the results.

Give us your VCORE settings for your CPU / NB and TERM voltage for both.

8x400
Vcore= ?
Vcore Term= ?

Northbridge Vcore= ?
Northerbridge term= ?

Divider?
ETC...

OK here it goes. i couldn't get it to boot with 8x400 anymore i don't know why but i

did get 9x356 to boot fine i'm on it right now. but it crashes under load like a game

or benchmark.

9x356
CPU frequency:....356
strap:.................400 the only options are(200/333/400)
Dram frequency...356MHz (DDR 712)

Vcore...................1.232
Vcore Term...........? (no option)
Northbridge Vcore..1.12v
Northerbridge term.? (no option)
Divider..................? (no option)

Bios settings:

Dram volt..........1.9
Dram ref...........set to: (normal), options: (+20mv to max +100mv)
SB core volt.......set to: (auto), options: (low/mid/high/highest)
SB 1.1v.............set to: (auto), options: (low/mid/high/highest)
NB volt..............set to: (auto), running @ 1.12v ,options: (1.12v to max 2.22v)
vtt....................set to: (auto), running @ 1.22v , options: (1.22v to max 1.9v) 0.02 increments
pll.....................set to: (auto), running @ 1.52v , options: (1.52v to max 2.78v) 0.02 increments
GTLRef volt........set to: (auto), running @ 0.63vtt, options: (1.52v to max 2.78v) 0.02 increments

whoow that's it all the other settings are regular bios settings and like i said it's running but crashes if i do anything more than posting on this tread
