I'll get the sabertooth if I really don't see any other incentives to get the z68. I'll have SSD for windows so srt is useless.opinions

EDIT: I'll definitely be getting the Sabertooth. Read too much on the Z68 being a total let down thus far and IGP not even worthwhile in performance gains when mixing with dedicated graphics. So now I can mod the Sabertooth and make it look nice and clean for the case in classic matte black & white. PUMPED

Well the ideas in my head were very very very very hard to relay into a compressed ulnar nerve and cramped hand while using a laptop mouse on top of windows 7 untimely pop ups. This is sort of an idea for you on what the inside will look like, board and case part wise. Not close though to whats circulating in my head. It's very hard to transcribe that data to photoshop easily. I'm about to draw it out lol. Real pictures to come by next weekend (I'm praying my check comes this week, praying praying). Anyways here's the not so great "mock up". At least you can picture it in your own head possibly now. I'll prolly make the motherboard "shield" matte black so there is more contrast and that way I can make the motherboard tray of the case white without washing out the whole setup

cooler-master-haf-x-full-tower-pc-case-inner-rear-600x422.jpg

EDIT: This is no where near close to how the actual case will look. It gives something to use your head to visualize off of. It's late I'm cashed out.

Well the check came, but it's a lot less than I expected. The build has become a budget build now. It's going to be split in HAF, lol get it? Anyways I'm going to go with building the core of the system and get everything else later. So no SLI, keyboard, monitor, mouse, 3D vision, headset, sound card and bluray yet. I have an old monitor keyboard and mouse so I can atleast do something instead of watching $2,100 collect dust. Ordering tonight, here's the list below. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great if made quickly. To me this is the best I can do for a $2K budget. Still have some leftover but that's on reserve until further notice. Trying to get some money by selling laptop to get money for the rest of the build since I only use my laptop at my desk so why have two computers spooling at once. Will be doing all the vinyl wrapping and painting on the core. Everything else will fall into place when I get money to order the missing pieces.

EDIT: I am just going to spend the bare amount it takes to at least get this project off the ground and moving. I'd rather stick with everything I truly need to at least be able to use the computer which is why I cut the peripherals, including 3D and a second GTX 560 since those won't change usability. Once I get some more money flowing or at least can stabilize the remaining then I will finish up the build

I would say if you are going with that budget...firstly, I would go down to a 700-750 Watt power supply to save a few bucks. Also, if its mostly a gaming build, if you don't expect to be doing any video encoding/editing, audio editing, folding, etc, then you would get pretty much equal performance out of the much cheaper i5-2500k. If you want to stick to the same price point though, I would say you'd benefit more from a larger SSD. Even my 120GB filled up fast with my games on it, getting 120GB would be much more comfortable than 64GB if you plan to load anything more than your OS on it.

Also, unless you really need the language packs, XP mode, or bit-locker, you could also save yourself about 80 bucks by just going with Windows 7 Home Premium. Hell, only reason I went with Ultimate is because Microsoft gave it to me for free.

Well I plan to keep adding to it within the end of the month. I'll be adding a 120gb SSD, 2X 1TB HDD and another 560Ti plus all the peripherals like a monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset. I also don't see benefits of games on the SSD, it's mainly for Windows in my book. Adding the other 120gb is going to be to added just because I'll have the resources so why not use them but until then I'm not concerned with not getting the holeshot by having faster loading times in games.

I already got Windows 7 Home Premium but I really do need the BitLocker for security. The 2600k is going to help me out a lot with my music production so that's why I went with that. I also really want to do folding since I try to do everything I can for a positive cause. That just comes from my career background as an EMT going into Paramedic. The core should be here tomorrow so I'll post a vlog and plog of everything. I probably won't get to the actual case and parts "modding" that this thread was started for right off the bat. My watercooler will be here Saturday. The most I'll probably get done is case painting tomorrow and assembly.

Tomorrow will be focused on getting things running, putting Windows 7 on the SSD and auditing it to junction the user data during the install and making sure everything is up and running. Sunday will be the install of the watercooling kit and then getting some decent daily use overclocks set up. Should be interesting. I'm curious to see what this will do as is and will give me insight to what it will be capable of in the near future. When IvyBridge stabalizes and Nvidia releases the 680GTX I'll be upgrading at that time. This is to feed my needs until then.

Alright just ordered 50 white LED's so I can add some flare to the case. I read the NZXT fans I got have holes for LED's already so that will simplify things. Just gonna replace the ones on the Cooler Master front fan and possibly make some accent lighting for the front and interior of the case. I like the fact that the case has a button to turn off the LED for the front fan. Good to know because I will definitely be wiring that for the power source for all LED's in the case so if I want to go stealth I can. I also am thinking at doing a little creative mod for the side case fan so I don't have to unplug it if I want to take the side off everytime. More on than when things get here but if it works it will definitely be a treat. Everything literally should be getting here in a matter of minutes. Can't wait to get started.

Well got everything running for the most part. Fan controller K.O.'d out of the box so basically I have no control. I ordered the Rheosmart and RMA'd my Kaze Master. I'm only running one fan on the rad but after an hour, and baking my room the temps from Prime95 are tolerable. It's overclocked just normally through the ASUS auto. But it runs so fast. I'm satisfied. Just a little more tweaking and then I'll take it apart for some painting. What a long weekend of this project. Took me a lot longer to get things together than I thought. Not everythings done yet either so that's dissapointing. Anyways just keeping updated.
