Yep once you go beyond 1080p you never go back.
Tried the surround thing myself though and it wasn't for me (SoftTH actually).

I haven't gamed since I got rid of it last week. I guess my resolution will be 1920x1080 when I get a new iMac.

You know what's awesome on CRTs? You can fit high resolutions on relatively small spaces (my monitor is slightly taller than a 16:10 24", but not as wide) and it still does 2048x1536. These days I never use my side monitors (LCD monitors) for anything but youtube and temp monitoring. Why, you ask? Because I am utterly disgusted by the large text on the things. Eugh, it looks horrible.

This is also apparent in games. With 2xAA, my pixels are barely visible from a foot away, and thus making my games look like I'm looking through a window instead of a monitor. I was always annoyed by the pixellation on my 24" 1920x1200 .

And this thing is perfectly clear like any LCD at this res. It's just that the pixels are so small at that res that even 2xAA is enough to get rid of most of the jaggies at a foots distance. It looks absolutely amazing. Never again will I want to go back to 1920x1200 or 1920x1080. And this causes less eye strain at 2048x1536 @ 85hz than my LCD monitors because the other has backlight flickering and the other has dithering...

Ever try any high end lcd monitors? I think mine is pretty damn good besides the fabled 'sparkling' and uneven backlight if you stare at a black screen. In comparison all the other lcds in my house seem like cheap POS. I do miss my high quality CRT though. I'm getting an NEC PA 27" soon too and we'll see how that fairs.

I've seen them, yes, but not used for gaming though. They are beaties, however, I can't afford them. I don't have a job. My whole rig cost 350€ including a mechanical keyboard and my displays. My GDM-F520 cost me 35€. I wonder if the seller knew what she was giving up. I have never literally seen anything so beatiful. I am sad that I can't find any more of these in a country with a population less than the city of NY... Three of these would be the best monitor setup I could ever imagine. Yes, I'd take three of these rather than any 30" LCD... I'd take three of these rather than 3x the widescreen version of these (only does 2304x1440). I would prefer the widescreen version for single screen usage, but triple screens I prefer in 4:3 format.
