how about a 2tb storage drive also.
nvidia 560 ti or gtx 460 sli imo
Gigabyte mobo over asus mobo all day also

It's a pretty good build. You won't need over 8GB unless you're doing industry-level workloads. The 2500k is the best processor out there for gaming right now. You don't need a 2GB graphics card for 1080p, but it might help in a year's time. Plus it gives you the option to multi-screen if you want to.

A 750W PSU will support crossfire 6950's easily, but I'd go with a brand other than XFX. Sapphire if you can, otherwise Asus, MSI or Gigabyte.

The Asus board should be fine. The P8P67 line are all very good.

Starcraft 2 is a CPU killer, but generally any modern Intel CPU will be able to handle it. You shouldn't worry about it with an i5 and a 6950.

Overall a good build. You might want to add in a mechanical hard disk as well, since I didn't see one there, and I recommend the Samsung F3. Other than that, it's all very good.

For a media storage drive I have the Samsung F4 2 Tb and I really like it, it ran cooler than the WD green for me and the WD had an annoying continual chirping I couldn't get to go away. The 2Tb F4 can regualary be found for $70 shipped, maybe even right now, let me check.

EDIT: Yep here you go, this page and this promo code: EMCKEHC22. Everything else looks good to me as well. I agree with everything Korlus said and regarding the possibility of Gskill RAM I am happy with mine, but both should be good options, I would get whichever is cheaper.

Hey I have a P8P67 Deluxe and a 2500k. The board is great! No complaints, and the UFI bios is very easy to use. Overclocking is simple, too. Plus, LED's will help with trouble booting and any other problems.

The 6950 may be overkill. Especially if your going to crossfire later on. 6870's would work great for you since your only 1 monitor at 1080P. And about your friend saying you need 2GB for 1080P, you dont. 1GB is usually enough for one monitor and after that youll see the point of diminishing returns.

Get a water block for your cpu/mobo and get a pair of GTX 460's or GTX 570's

460----- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-591-_-Product

570----- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-365-_-Product

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-582-_-Product

EDIT 460SLI would be a improvement and a single 570 would be a improvement but two 570's would be 150% better than your current card

Thread Starter
Thank you so much guys. I love all this input finally.

i am going to stay with the asus because i might do a hackintosh later.
Everything will just stay the same, I am still deciding on the gpu maybe a 570 over the 6950. If I do get the 6950 I will get sapphire.

Why the ripjaw ram?

Also macncheese there are so many threads saying that the board gives a lot of problems, thats really wierd.
