Overclokcing a XFX-6970, how much?

How hard have you guys pushed these cards?

I'm running at 915 clock speed, and 1400 memory...

Core voltage at 1225.

* * *

How much harder can I push this thing? Am I into dangerous territories yet?

Fan speed isn't near 100 yet.

How far have yallz overclocked this card?

What should I look out for, and when should I worry about the values on this card?

THANKS!!!

I'd say don't got above 1.25v on air, and as far as temps go I wouldn't like to see my 6950 anywhere over 70.

I've seen people getting over 1000 core, though, and my 6950 happily runs at 960.

Every core is different, but I'm betting you can get to your 915 core speed at stock voltage of 1175. You may even be able to get to or above 950 with stock voltage.

Currently, my Lightning is set as follows:

Core: 1000
Mem: 1425

Core Voltage: 1250
Mem Voltage: +40
Aux Voltage: 1159

Temps don't get any higher than 70-71C running Unigine, BFBC2, or Starcraft2 with the default fan profile on the performance setting on my card. Of course, you can set up your own fan profile in Afterburner.

I think I can probably get the core a little faster at the same voltage or lower the voltage at the same speed. Of course, the memory and aux voltages aren't available to you. I've had memory stable at 1450 with mem voltage at +70. I had a 2nd generation reference Sapphire 6970 that had memory which would clock at 1500 without additional voltage. The core was also good up to 970 without additional voltage above stock. Check out my Friendly HD 6970 Lightning Overclocking Competition Thread for some other people's overclocks.
