Upgrading System, thoughts on specs pl

Hey all,

So my Asus P5Q pro has died and is not covered by warranty so I have two options:

Buy a new 775 board and some DDR3 because noone sells 775+DDR2 boards in AUS anymore...

OR

New Build!
I am keeping everything else in my sig except have upgraded from GTX260OC to HD6950 which I shall flash for extra shaders. Its been a while since I really kept up-to-date with all the tech so this 1155 thing is new to me. From what I've found 1155 P67 looks like a better buy in my case than 1366 and x58. Here is what im looking at:

Intel Core i5 2500K LGA1155 3.3GHz CPU$219.00
Asus P8P67V3 $188.00
G Skill 8G(2x4G)DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 CL8 $120

Any thoughts or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also I will be selling the Q9550 and DDR2 so PM me if interested... [EDIT: Q9550 already sold!]

Many thanks,
Misso

For that price range, I suggest you go for an ASUS Z68 board.

Your in exactly the same situation i was in a few months back. My 775 striker extreme board flipped out on me . So i built a new rig based around the 2500k.

It's the best thing i ever did! and it is a flying machine in comparison. 775 parts are still very much in demand and sell for good $$ whitch will help fund your new build

I am also now in two minds what to do with a second build. My mrs wants a new budget rig so i may go down the amd phenom II route as prices are so low
