Specific game issues with 6950

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

Just a few questions about a couple of games i own and my experience with the 6950 card. Wondered if you all had same problems:

DIRT 3

Everything has a 'green tint' to it and colours are very dull. Everything set to ultra doesnt look that impressive

GTA IV

Poor FPS (20 - 40fps) and microstutter all over the show

GTA IV Tales Of libery City

Same as above very poor fps. used to get 60 - 80 with my old GTX 275

COD Black Ops

Some scenes run maxed out at 180fps and smooth as silk. Others drop to 30fps (especially the first mission and rocket mission) and appear slow and jerky

NFS HOT PERSUIT

40 - 60FPS but when it drops to 40fps it appares to run quite slow. GTX 275 ran it at constant 60fps (game is capped at that)

All games have been patched to the latest versions.

Are these bugs with the games themselves or is there something i can do? All other games are fine and performance is great. This is my first ATI card, love it apart from the above!

My HD6950 also gets the GTA IV issue. I haven't found any way to fix it. I'm on the HD6970 bios 950 | 1450. I upgraded from a GTX 460.

My main issue is that I can only get up to 8X AA on all of my games where as my GTX 460 supported 32X CSAA

Anyone know how to get the Higher Anti-Aliasing? More so for Bad Company 2.

i have had some problems with mine too. the similar thing to you in GTA iv, but after i installed the 11.4 drivers it was fixed. i have never had any problems in black ops and i havent played dirt 3 or nfs: hot pursuit (although i plan too). I also get stuttering in bfbc2 (major!), gothic 3 and the witcher - sometimes. I seriously do not know what is wrong with these amd cards. if i find a solution i well definitely tell you because i know how annoying it can be. lag is one thing, but stuttering is annoying on a whole new level especially when you know your card is capable

In GTA4, with 950/1520 @1.2V and something like

All maxed settings except reflections on high, 37/37/37/10, no vsync

I get lots of 71fps(it never goes over that, sits there a lot)

plenty of 45-65fps driving around (the game is a bad port as everyone says)

and the minimum is about 38fps, and thats in certain places of the map, more to do with the way its coded and my lesser CPU

The only problem I have related to my 6950 or drivers is....some of the the rain drops appears red(the odd time green)

BFBC2 run perfect for me completely maxed, 50-80fps, but I use vsync now

Thats odd because I run BFBC2 Seemlessly perfectly . Maxed out, but I want higher than just 8x AA, there doesn't seem to be any higher Anti-Aliasing in the games settings.

Im on 11.5a. I haven't really had any issues with this card as such. Black ops works great for me.

@Mit Namso

I'm averaging 20-30Fps on High 1680x1050. Going over 40fps is rare. Reason I uninstalled this game from my pc. Horrible performance :C.

1.6V is WAAYYY too high

thats not safe, or needed for 900MHz

I can do 900 at stock 1.1V

When I didn't know any better, I used 1.4V to get 990MHz, even that was crazy on air

yeah same blops for me stays on an average of around 90fps smoothly fully maxed out. I think my BFBC2 issue might be something to do with sound or punkbuster though

Seriously? Thats still less than 6970 stock voltage. I can only get 860 / 1390 @ stockvoltage. Setting afterburner to 1160 in the voltage setting seems to be stable @ 900 / 1400...not had any problems???? Sorry this must be 1.16v not 1.6!

I just installed Hotfix 11.5b as that came out 2 days ago which is supposed to help DIRT 3 performance...not that i have any issues with the performance...just crappy colours.

GTA IV runs at 150fps inside building but outside slows right down to about 30 average i guess. Especially the add-ons
