Looks pretty neat for the price, and my mum is looking to buy a new, low cost, decent performing computer. Opinions?

(Need PC to be under £200, not including monitor, OS, keyboard and mouse wink.gif )

As long as she can get by with Linux and a dual core Atom with ION2, it should be fine. Not really "decent performing" by any means since it is an Atom, but it should do just about anything web related plus most "office" type tasks. ION2 will support HD video depending on whether Linux supports GPU accelerated codecs for any videos she may watch.

I was planning on putting on Ubuntu smile.gif

From what I see on youtube, it performs pretty good, also in reviews.
Older gen Atoms were awful, you couldn't load up 2 programs without bogdown, but this seems a real step-up smile.gif

I played with one here in the states. They aren't a bad little machine for the price.
The newer Ion that you have linked it better than the first version that lacked ion (it used an intel video). Also, I would likely look into maybe either a faster drive (more cache / spin or SSD) to push a little more performance eventually. Nice that you can also bump the ram to 4GB.

Acer can have (at times) a bad name for service issues, but that is more with laptops. If all you want to do is basic stuff (no hard core gaming / editing) I think it would be fine. Certainly it will only sip the watts which is nice.
