Need Some Help For Watercooling A NZXT Phantom - Page 7

That's definitely helpful. Based on what I've read in this particular thread, though, it doesn't sound necessary or even advisable to cut apart that much of the case, let alone part of one of the fan assemblies.

I guess the best question is the most simple: when cooling cpu+gpu, does it really make a difference to have a 240 setup vs a 360 setup? Enough to justify all that surgery? I'm all for modding and projects, I love that ish, but the rad in that thread looks to be twice the thickness of ones referenced in this thread.

yeah that 1 is an RX360 the 1 here is rs360 size, You would bet better temps using 360 rad rather then a 240 especially if you re doing cpu+gpu as you have he same hight ristrictions on a 240 bieng it would need to be RS240 size not a thick RX240. I think most ppl put 3 fans under and 2 fans on top of the 360

I was hoping to avoid cutting into the optical drive bay area, and still get reasonably low temps when all is said and done. So the aforementioned swiftech mcr320 seems like one of the better picks for this case, and of course the fans are up to one's taste and preference. Also, it may only seem this way because I'm new to this whole process, but it seems to me that sound-dampening foam would be counter-productive with airflow and maintaining a cooler inner temp. Kind of like an insulator. Is that not the case?

you wouldn't want to put anything around the rads to stop air flow aand if your doing the cpu+gpu you wouldn't need any sound damperning anyway I would of thought

to be honest if you were thining of going water cooled there are a lot better cases for it with rad space built in the xigmatek elysium, obsidian 800d, haf-x

Nah, I'm the stubborn type, and the Phantom appeals to my greater interest
Thanks for the input, I'll keep digging thru threads and picking brains

oh 1 other thing I have noticed in the pictures I have seen with 360 rads on top is motherboards seems some the rad gets in the way of removing ram others it just clears the top. I am wondering if I can get 1 between the end of the gfx card the the drive bays standing upright, need to do some measurements.
