HD 6950 overclock

Thread Starter
Hey guys,
after buying my sapphire HD 6950 I went straight ahead onto overclocking it.
So far I reached 950/1440 1.15v and 61~62c load after 10min of GPU tool and 5min of Furmark. ( I cbf going for longer lol ._.)

So i was wondering
1. Is this temp low enough? Should I downclock it a bit to keep default voltage?
2. Max voltage for 24/7 (not literally)
3. Should I aim higher ?

Those temps are fine tbh, well depending on what % you have your fan working at that is. Just thought it worth a mention, that these cards actually gain very little from being overclocked. Their gpu seem very efficient, Bearing in mind you can get 900/1400 on stock voltages for practically 0 less 'real' gaming fps.

"Max" 24/7 voltage would be that of the 6970, 1.175, others will claim higher, but that depends on how long you plan on actually keeping the card, because it will degrade after that voltage. But of course thats up to yourself, if heat is an issue for you, or not. GL

Edit: Oh, and welcome to OCN

The gain from overclocking the 6950 is acceptable about 10% real world frames per second difference when at 6970 speeds.

A high OC with unlocked shaders you could get maybe 15% increase in games which is great.

1920x1080
F1 2010 - DX11
8xMSAA, All Details maxed
6950 Stock: 57 Avg. / 52 Min.
6950 Shader Unlock OC 63 Avg. / 58 Min. (6970 speeds)
6950 w/ 6970 Bios 63 Avg. / 58 Min.

My last GTX 275 would overclock about 5% so in my eyes this card is good for overclocking and you do see real world performance increases.
