Build for £500-£600 (GBP)

Thread Starter
OK, so I'm looking to get a nice Sandy Bridge build for £500-£600 British sterling. I don't mind stretching my budget to the full 600, but anything below would be great.

I am not sure which UK site is the best/cheapest to order from (I know the popular ones are eBuyer.com and scan.co.uk) but I'm looking for a nice quad core build that will last me a while. I tried to pick parts myself, but because the only main game I want to play is Starcraft 2 @ 1080p with low graphics, I don't know what graphics card to pick.

Any help/recommended parts would be great.

Well i use scan.co.uk personally (had a few bad experiences with ebuyer)! There's a few other specialist sites around but i'd stick with one of the bigger sites for now if your just starting out.

2500k would be a good start.
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel...-plusfree-game

If you already have a decent CPU cooler then you could get the OEM version and save £15
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel...-cache-95w-oem

You'd want at least 4gb of DDR3 ram such as these.
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-%...-9-24-xmp-150v

As for the GPU, something such as a GTX 460/560 would be great.
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-e...dvi-i-minihdmi
or
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-a...-x-dvi-i-mhdmi
or even this if you want to a really great, up-to-date card
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-g...ores-dvi-mhdmi

^^All these should go great with Starcraft - i'd say get a GTX 460 at least^^

Something like this would do as a PSU - if you don't already have one.
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-...-12v-135mm-fan

Motherboard will depend on whether you want P67 or Z68 chipset, and what form factor you want to use.

You can always pick up Cases, CPU coolers and Hard-Drives for fairly cheap!

Are you looking to build from scratch or do you have some parts already???

Can anyone recommend a case and CPU cooler than will allow me to overclock somewhat whilst sticking to the budget?

Also, couldn't I get a cheaper card than the 460/560 if I'm playing Starcraft 2 on the LOWEST settings?

Coolermastre Hyper 212 for around £20 is your best bet for a cheap cooler (might aswell buy the OEM 2500k if your buying an aftermarket cooler).

And yes. A GTX 450 or GTX 250 card would play your starcraft game on lowest settings with ease.
