You'd have to go through a proxy (or use 2 internet connections...but not many people have 2 physical dsl/cable lines biggrin.gif).

Just find a free HTTP proxy and go tools>options>advanced>network>settings>manual proxy configuration (for firefox) and all traffic on that browser will bounce through that proxy (and have a different IP address).

If it's just some random proxy, though, don't send any personal information through it.

first off.. dont cheat.
otherwise i dont think you can change ip's on your browser. it is not what controls your ip.. your modem that connects you to the net controls your ip. so i think you would need 2 isp's or 2 internet lines one on each machine to run a different ip.

As said before you can configure one of your browsers to use a proxy that way you have different IPs on different browsers
post #6 of 11
Alright there's some wrong info going on here. Your browser works at the application layer of the OSI model (layer 7) and your IP Address is on layer 3/4. There's a lot going on between these two layers and your browser doesn't really have anything to do with determining the IP address. The IP address is obtained by the DHCP server on your network (typically your router) or if you statically configure it. This is predetermined and unless you have multiple NICs you can only use the 1 IP address associated with that IP. Think about it. If your mailbox at your driveway had two addresses how would you know where to direct the traffic that was received? Plus every IP address is translated to a MAC address in the data link layer of the OSI model and the Mac address is Used by switches and other devices that don't operate at layer 3. So it would be impossible to determine where each segment of traffic is supposed to go since most of the traffic is routed using MAC addresses and not IP addresses at lower levels.

You can however use a proxy or tunnel all your traffic using SSH to another computer and this would give you two IP addresses since your traffic would be routed to the proxy and then sent to the destination.

What's your endgame?

You can buy a second ip address from your isp. And then run it on a second machine. This works good if you dont have a router and want to split an internet connection. I know my isp charges like $4 a month for the second ip. Only equipment you would need is the rj45 cables a switch(hub), and the two machines.

Yes just put in a different proxy in the 2nd browser. Use like a proxy switcher add on like foxyproxy then add a proxy rule with certain addies
