[Eurogamer] Hitman:Absolution to be "more accessible." - Page 2

I grew up with the regen health and I honestly favor that over old school HP. I did play Pokemon and BF2, but I honestly thought the health in COD4 was revolutionizing. I guess it depends on what you're used to. I prefer regen health, but I have no problem with old school health packs and such, it's just a mild annoyance. I do agree that regen health makes a game easier though. No need to expose yourself to heal, just duck down behind cover.

To be on topic, I don't think Hitman should be made easier. The 2 Hitman games I have were relatively easy with a bit of patience and planning. I probably started playing them around the age of 11 or so. They were challenging and did give some adrenaline rushes when things were just about to screw up.

Guess the problem is that them making games "More accessible" is that is sells well enough for them to continue selling watered down games

Games need to be more accessible if you ask me. But they should also have a difficult dial that actually scales up the challenge. I honestly don't see how hard it is to balance these two things.

And i just don't see TW2 type difficulty curve helping anything. You start off with things being challenging in TW2, but the game gets progressively easier. So you start off chasing away new comers then bore the hell out of the survivors towards the end.

If they made it so that you could easily toggle those stupid features it wouldn't be so bad. Like Dues Ex 3's "yellow glow"

I have not played witcher 2 so far but it is very satisfying when you get a hang of the combat. I also have to think about what my character and I can manage, you can't run into random bosses like in Dragon age where the difficulty scales.

Well that's yet another franchise gone to crap. Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Dragon Age, Deus Ex now Hitman? (sigh)
I blame achievements. In the 90s games were hard, but most of them had cheats. Now games have achievements, are easy and for the most part and they don't have cheats. I guess this is because the developers pre-cheated and they don't want you to cheat more lest you sully the meaning of your "Achievements". If you want hard games to return, achievements have to go bye-bye.

One achievement of beating a hard game > 50 achievements [most of them stupid] in an easy game.
