It's disgusting to see these companies milk these "original" and "brilliant" franchises from the past.

If they want to completely change the aspects of the game, they should not be re-stamping it from the past franchise. Call it a different game and leave Hitman alone with whatever dignity it has left!

dear everyone on this thread,

Game companies exist to make money. They are big companies because they have made a lot of it. Innovative games usually come from small companies, or big companies taking risks. Sometimes when big companies take big risks, they end up going under because they invest a lot of money into something that doesn't work out and they end up screwed, therefore it is more logical to go with the "sure bet". Sequels and franchises aren't anything new, humans have been milking successful things since the dawn of time - it could be also that while YOU have grown and matured, etc. the games are made for the kind of person you USED to be, so when you try them now, they seem poor in comparison. Sometimes the nostalgia filter skews your perception. Please take that into consideration when constantly trashing everything new and saying how good things used to be "back in the day".

Crying won't help. Complaining won't help. Games are big business, the only thing that will help is $$$$. The sooner you learn that, the sooner you can just move on.

Love,

Artev

The lot of you are just... hilarious. Seriously. I am sad that this is the generation that I am born into and have to be associated with. Good luck, all of you, with your futures.

Dear Atrev,

What was the last 'big company' that went under from taking a risk on a new game? The problem is that they DON'T take risks because all they care about is profit margin and what they know will sell. Any innovation that does occur is watered down and gimmicky by the release so that gamers won't have to go too far from their comfort zone.

What they don't do is invest in new ideas because the thought of failure means a loss of profit which, in most cases, is unacceptable. As for the nostalgia filter - it is partly true, but it is also true that in the 90s and early 2000s most companies hadn't fully accepted the corporate model for gaming and so actually cared about innovation. Now its completely stagnant.

Love,
Sylence

lets see, small companies are apparently more easily able to take risks according to you, because they have unlimited cashflow, and the ability to market their game well?

You are about as ignorant as they get.

You know, Splinter Cell: Conviction wasn't bad. Yes, it's different, but in conjunction with playing through story twice and playing Deniable Ops, I find myself playing it more than Chaos Theory. Yes, it has health regen, but in a game like this, it barely matters. Get caught by three guards in the open, you're dead. Head shot, you're dead. Play Rambo, you're dead, etc. In the previous games, I barely made use of med kits at all.

apb.

New final fantasy game sold so badly it went free to play. Age of conan also just went free to play because their profits are probably dropping as well.
