Really, cause making braid is taking nearly the same risk as trying to take on say COD in the FPS catagory. Aiming low and making a small game is not really taking a risk, its actually them not taking a risk, its taking baby steps. They are making small games, to fill a niche, they are going all out with a game that is trying to topple the world and reinvent the genre, or beat the tops of its genre.

Just because an independent dev releases a small game that becomes a huge success doesnt mean it was taking a risk.

Seriously man. I have repeatedly sunken your retarded ship probably a dozen times now.

They are risking their time, energy and ideas on bringing an idea they love to life. Remember this isn't just a discussion of "risks" its also of "innovation". Innovation can come in small packages.

You contradict yourself so many times its quite difficult to make sense of your argument. I say that small companies have less to lose than big companies and you post about how Witcher 2's success would make or break the company. I say that smaller companies are allowed to make those decisions and big companies are held back by investors and then you say "well those small companies aren't really taking a risk." Which one is it? Really either way, I don't think we necessarily disagree here.

Big companies can make bigger games because they have more money, but with that money comes expectations that make it harder for those companies to take risks and innovate. I believe this is your position, and mine. Small companies sometimes are held to similar standards but just as often (or more so) are able to use new and original ideas because they are only risking their own time and money, not the time and money of other people. We agree there as well! So what is all this arguing about???

Seriously! I am not really sure what we disagree about! I'm glad we were able to reconcile our differences through clear communication! *cheers* mate! we did it! we won the internet!!!

oh.

*blinks*

then you jump to ad hominem! good times. I am sorry to tell you, but you haven't sunken my ship, you haven't even attacked any of my points, instead your arguments are usually reduced to you attacking me without being able to make a coherent point that even engages any of the statements I made. You do get bonus points for sinking to using a term generally considered offensive!

Anyways, this has been "fun" but I think its safe to say we're both done with this discussion. Have a good one!
