Yes, I have Home Premium and Service Pack 1 installed. I also just updated my motherboard to the latest and greatest BIOS (F12).

I know there is also a memory controle built into the CPU itself... if its currently OC'ed, then you might want to disable the OC and see if all 12 Gigs is detected.

If this isn't the case or the problem then try all of your RAM sticks on another board\PC see if all 12G is detected. If yes, then you know the RAM isn't at fault, and I would suggest you RMA or replace your board.

It nice having spare parts... unfortunatly most people don't have many spare parts to test with.

I think the two most likely causes are:

1. bad chip on a ram stick.
2. bad dimm slot on motherboard.

Unless it shows the correct amount in bios, this is looking like a hardware issue.

have you tried the other ram slots on the mobo? I recently built a pc using a gigabyte motherboard for a client and one of the ram slots on the motherboard was bad. due to the fact the client just wanted the computer as an internet machine we just used the other ram slots and used the board anyway, because my client did not want to wait for RMA.

Again,its very important that you set the correct qpi voltage for some ram otherwise it will not all be detected correctly.

To have my ram function correctly at its advertised speeds its recommended that the qpi/vtt be run at 1.7volts,if this is not followed then theres no guarantee by the manufacturer that it will run as intended.

Ram comes with XMP- Extreme memory profiles that can be selected in bios,look at my photos to see my ram is set to use 1.7v qpi/vtt to run at 2000Mhz,and 1.6v qpi/vtt to run at 1866Mhz.

As i have previously said i have found that it can actually be run at much lower voltages but still over what Intel reccomend(1.35)and im personally not happy to run over 1.41v for 24/7 under water.

Without the correct qpi/vtt voltage being used(especially with large amounts of ram) it could look as if there is a hadware failure even if theres not.

Can you confirm you have tried to up the qpi/vtt voltage? wth.gif

I cleared CMOS and started from scratch. I was able to get settings that work and lasted an 8 hour stress test from LinX without a problem. I also ran Memtest86 for 5 passes without an error. My temps did reach a high of 77C... then again, my house was 80F. The memory issue is gone (for now). I'm going to post my new settings below and in another forum to see if anyone can see anything that could be tightened up. Maybe a fresh set of eyes can see something I don't to make it a touch better.
