2-card SLI using bottom and top slots of 3 PCI-slot Mobo

Hello

I'm planning on running GALAXY GTX 560 TI's in SLI on a ASROCK P67 EXTREME 4 Mobo in a HAF 922 case, though there are issues reported with these cards regarding the distance between them (namely, the top card is generally not as good at moving air and has a tendency to overheat because the cards are so closely stacked because the fans are designed differently fin some form).

Since the P67 EXTREME4 has 3 PCI 2.0 x16 slots, would it be possible to install them in the top and bottom slots and run them in SLI mode, or am I required to to use to the top and middle slots?

If anyone else has any advice regarding other motherboards that are possible options, feel free to chime in. I'm not yet set on the Mobo model.

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't matter what model you get as long as you have three slots. The mobo normally comes with both a dual gpu flexible SLI connector as well as a rigid triple-gpu connector. Just use that one and plug the first end into the first card and the last connector into the second card in the third slot.

You could install them in the first and third slots no problem. It looks like that mobo has decent spacing though between the first and second slots so you should be ok, the 560 Ti doesn't run as hot as the other Nvidia cards.

Would the SLI bridge come with the Mobo or the graphics card, and would it be a flexible or inflexible one? I've heard conflicting resports in the issue

SLI Bridges always come with the mobo not the GPU. I dont have the mobo, but looking at the pics on Newegg it looks like a solid SLI connector, so you may be limited to using the first PCIE x16 and the second. Also if you use the third slot you will be limited to x4 speeds.

I own the MSI GTX 560 and it does run cool. You shouldnt have a problem with that mobo in either configuration. My top GPU runs about 5-10C hotter depending on the load, but I never have to run the fans above 50-55%.
