Question about silver coil

Thread Starter
Where am I supposed to put it?

I've heard people say to just drop it in the reservoir, but how do I prevent it from going through the tubing and getting sucked into the pump?

I put mine the res and it hasn't moved.
The coil should be wide enough not to pass through the fittings lso the weight of it stops it moving about

I noticed strange flow issues if mine got too close to the res outlet going to the pump. To fix that, I just made the coil a little wider.

I stretched my coil out into more of a wide ribbon and just let it float in my XSPC res/top on top of an MCP355. I haven't yet seen it get sucked in on its own volition, the only time it got close was when I was tinkering with the reservoir, but it still didn't get sucked in or hit the impeller or anything.

I tried finding a picture, but I don't have one specifically and don't have time to upload it, sorry. Either way, I haven't had a problem, and I hear a lot of positive feedback from people about just screwing it as a coil into the tubing before or after a fitting and it never moving. I posted a thread about this when I was building my setup, and nobody seemed to have any problems in any of the settings of placing it, so you should be good to go regardless of what you do with it.

There would probably still be a chance that it would get sucked into the pump, even if I changed the shape. A better question is this: what is the worst that can happen if it gets sucked into the pump?
Worst possibility is that it seizes the pump and burns it out. It's extremely unlikely, but not impossible. I haven't yet heard of this happening to anyone around here.

I've put mine in the actual barb for the reservoir inlet. It stays put while exposing all liquid to it. Good times.

Does it prevent flow?
