Help with Random crashes.

So, about 5 weeks ago, my computer has randomly began to crash when ever i am in the middle of a game that actually uses up resources. Now to specify that, when i play lets say Terraria, a 2d game i can play forever and never crash, or some other game that uses barely anything. But if its anything even like League of Legends, that actually uses a bit of power, it will randomly crash after an 20-30 minutes of game play. I have recently purchased a 6950 and ulocked it in to a 6970, and since i heard that sometimes after awhile cards that have been unlocked become unstable, i thought that was it. Even tho i bought it almost 5 months ago now, and it worked perfectly fine for the past 4 until 5 weeks ago this has started to happen. So i thought if i flash the bios back to the original, maybe that would fix it, so i did, but the freeze ups are still happening. Now to explain the freeze up, i will be in the middle of a game, and randomly the screen will all go "crazy", it will be all ripples across the screen, with the sound that was playing in that last second, freezing up on a loop. Nothing will respond other then pressing the hard restart button on the case. I read up a bit more, and it seems that most of the other people who have had these crashes, they had it related to ram. So i thought it might be my timings and i tried to play around with that, as well as the voltage and still crashes. Now i have a question for all of you smart people out there, Do you think its my card? Or my ram? Or could it be my motherboard? I have red that if the cmos battery dies in a motherboard it can cause random lock ups, could that be it? Or could it be somehow my cpu? Thank you for understanding. All help is very appreciated.

Try a clean driver install, if that doesn't work then install a spare video card to see if the 6950 caused the freezing.

I found out what the problem is, it was my sound. I randomly disabled sound in one of my games, because i didn't feel like listening to it and instead wanted to listen to some music, and the crashes have stopped. It used to happen at LEAST once every 40 minutes, and now i have been playing for the past 5 hours and not a single crash. I turned the sound back on in game, and what do you know, 20 minutes later i crash. Now what i don't understand is why is it that only IN GAME sound makes me crash, i can play music, watch videos, talk on vent/skype/ts and not crash. Any advice? or opinions on the matter?

Does it happen to all games or just a particular one? If its just a particular one then you know what to do. If its for all games and you might consider reinstalling the audio drivers for your hardware.
